In the 19th century and earlier, Llansawel was a drovers’ village with its own busy livestock market and thus was a place where public houses could prosper.    The drovers are long gone but two of the public houses remain in business. The Angel is a cosy pub with a splendid inglenook fireplace and lots of character.  It stands at the edge of the village where the main street meets the Llanybydder-Edwinsford road.
